This is one of the most bazaar hostels I have ever stayed in.

Included in the price was an airport transfer, which is always an added bonus. After arriving into Cairo at 4am, we found a sign with our names on it. So far so good.

We finally reached the car, which as those who have been to Cairo airport know, the car park is a bus ride away from the terminal. The 30min ride into the city, was a scary one. The taxi had no seatbelts, and the driver had lost his mind. We were driving at about 100km, weaving through traffic, and at one stage the driver was showing off by driving with no hands…

Once we arrived at the hostel, by this time nearly 5am, we found the door to be chained closed. After ringing the door bell for 10 minutes a ‘gatekeeper’, dressed in a floor length leather coat, opened the door for us. We then finally squeezed into an old fashion, iron barred lift (along with the taxi driver) and finally made it to the 7th floor.

The hostel was traditional, and the staff friendly. We got breakfast for free and lots of information and tips for our time in Cairo. The hostel is located right across from the Egyptian Museum, so its location is perfect! After from the bumpy ride in, I really liked this hostel. We had a two bed private room and it was clean and had a view of the museum.

Definitely a great place to stay!
